This Privacy Policy explains how the LinVPN application ("LinVPN", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application (the "Application" or the "Service"). By downloading and using the Application, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
LinVPN is a free virtual private network (VPN) application for Android. Our core purpose is simple and privacy-focused: to provide you with a secure, encrypted connection to our VPN servers so that you can use the internet more safely on public and private networks.
We do not require registration. The Application does not use accounts, logins, passwords, email addresses, or phone numbers. You can use LinVPN completely anonymously. We do not collect, store, or otherwise process any Personal Identifiable Information (PII) — we do not know your name, your email address, or any other information that could identify you as a natural person. You are anonymous to us by design.
We use the Android VpnService base class exclusively for the Application's core
functionality. Specifically, VpnService is used solely to create a secure, encrypted,
device-level tunnel between your device and our remote VPN servers. This tunnel is the essential mechanism that
allows your device's network traffic to be routed through our encrypted connection. Without this system
capability, the Application simply cannot function — the Android VpnService API is the only
officially supported way on the Android platform to establish a system-wide VPN connection.
When you first enable the VPN, the Android operating system shows you a system permission dialog. The tunnel runs
only while the VPN is actively connected and only because you, the user, have
explicitly chosen to turn it on. LinVPN does not use VpnService for any purpose other than routing
your traffic through the encrypted tunnel, such as installing certificates, traffic interception, or device
management. No traffic is captured, modified, or inspected beyond the encrypted routing that makes the VPN
function. Any unrelated or malicious use of the VpnService API is against our design and is
not supported.
We adopt a strict no-logs policy. We do not collect, store, or log:
The Application works without registration. At the first launch it generates a random installation identifier — a technical number that distinguishes one installation from another and that our support sees as the "chat id". This identifier is not connected to your identity, so you remain anonymous to us by design.
Because we do not collect identifying data, we cannot sell it, share it, or hand it over in response to requests — we simply do not have it.
What the Application transmits to our servers — only the anonymous technical data listed below, and only while you use the Application:
Advertising identifier (Ad ID). The Application may read the device advertising identifier. The Ad ID is not transmitted to our VPN servers; it is provided to the advertising network (see below) solely to serve advertisements.
All of the above is used only to operate the Application, keep the service stable, provide support, and keep LinVPN free of charge. None of it is used to identify you or to build a profile of you beyond what is required for advertising.
The Application integrates the Yandex Mobile Ads SDK, an advertising network operated by Yandex, to display advertisements within the Application, including Rewarded Video ads and Banner ads. Advertising allows us to keep LinVPN free for all users.
Rewarded ads are never shown unannounced. Before a rewarded video is displayed, the Application shows an explicit in-app confirmation («Ad viewing» dialog) explaining that an ad is about to start, what the user will receive after watching it to the end (an access session of up to 2 hours), and that closing it early means no access is granted. The ad is shown only after the user taps the confirmation button. This is a requirement of the Yandex advertising network and a part of our design.
In order to deliver and display relevant advertisements, Yandex may process the device's advertising identifier (Ad ID) and may collect additional data as described in Yandex's own privacy policy, including for purposes of ad targeting and analytics. By using the Application, you acknowledge that your device's Ad ID may be shared with Yandex and processed in accordance with the Yandex Privacy Policy. This sharing is limited to advertising purposes and does not include any personally identifiable information, which we do not collect.
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the data described in this Policy against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. Data exchanged between your device and our servers is protected with strong encryption while in transit (including TLS and VLESS Reality encryption for the VPN tunnel). Our servers are maintained with up-to-date security practices. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and while we strive to protect the limited data we hold, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13. Because the Application does not collect PII from any user, there is no personal data of children that could be processed. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with any personal information, please contact us using the details below so that we can take appropriate action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy and, where appropriate, notify you within the Application. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Application after the revised Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
